Interpreting Climate Change Virtual Course
March 24, 2020 - March 26, 2020
The Interpreting Climate Change virtual course provides an overview of the practical knowledge and skills that will enable interpreters to develop effective, engaging programming for both natural and cultural sites. Participants will consider a range of engagement techniques such as audience-centered interpretation, facilitated dialogue, skills for dealing with controversy, and presenting multiple perspectives. These and other techniques will be applied to an overview of climate science and audience research. Participants will engage in group discussions to share best practices, build confidence, and identify meaningful site connections.
This training is aimed at interpretation and education practitioners and supervisors – from both natural and cultural sites – who are presenting and/or developing climate change programming at their sites, or are interested in doing so but aren’t sure how to proceed. Interested employees from other career fields and other agencies are also welcome to apply on a space available basis. Preference is given to NPS employees.
