DESCRIPTION:The USDA Forest Service with Tribal partners will be hosting a workshop on the state of rivercane (Arundinaria gigantea) in the Southeast.  The event will be held March 12-14\, 2020 at the Camp Heart O’Hills in Tahlequah\, Oklahoma. \nThe purpose of the event is to gather Tribal Nations\, artisans\, traditional knowledge holders\, scientists\, land managers and other stakeholders to discuss the current state of knowledge for rivercane in the southern United States. SUMMARY:Interpreting Climate Change Virtual Course
DESCRIPTION:The Interpreting Climate Change virtual course provides an overview of the practical knowledge and skills that will enable interpreters to develop effective\, engaging programming for both natural and cultural sites. Participants will consider a range of engagement techniques such as audience-centered interpretation\, facilitated dialogue\, skills for dealing with controversy\, and presenting multiple perspectives. These and other techniques will be applied to an overview of climate science and audience research. Participants will engage in group discussions to share best practices\, build confidence\, and identify meaningful site connections. \n  \nThis training is aimed at interpretation and education practitioners and supervisors – from both natural and cultural sites – who are presenting and/or developing climate change programming at their sites\, or are interested in doing so but aren’t sure how to proceed. Interested employees from other career fields and other agencies are also welcome to apply on a space available basis. Preference is given to NPS employees.
