SUMMARY:Stream Channel Assessment Training
DESCRIPTION:Grab your muck boots and join us at the Fort Sill Apache Tribe on October 14 -15\, 2026\, for Stream Channel Assessment Training. \nWhat is a stream channel assessment? It is a method to assess physical parameters of the stream\, such as the shape of the channel. For example\, the width of the channel\, the degree of bank slope\, the riparian vegetation\, and the type of substrate are a few of the physical measurements we take.  \nWhy should I include a stream channel assessment in my stream monitoring protocol? The shape of the stream is affected by what is happening in the watershed\, such as changes in land use or changes in weather patterns. This is an example of factors that impact streams and affect their shape and health.  \nWhen: October 14-15\, 2026. \nWhere: We will meet at the Fort Sill Apache Tribal Complex for the presentation portion of the training. After that\, it’s off to the creeks to get in the water and start taking measurements.  \nMark your calendars! \nRegistration is forthcoming.  \nQuestions? Contact Yvette Wiley at dyvette.wiley@ou.edu
